THE subject of water works bookkeeping and accounting is one of utmost importance both to superintendents and registrars of water departments. The following article, which has been kindly prepared for FIRE AND WATER ENGINEERING by A. R. Hathaway, water registrar of Springfield, Mass., shows some excellent suggestions along the line of a modern system of accounting. Mr. Hathaway, it will be remembered. as chairman of the committee on Water Works Bookkeeping Forms of the New England Water Works Association, has done some excellent work along this line and an article by him on the subject therefore has particular significance.
