Firemen Build Cab Roofs

Firemen Build Cab Roofs

There was only one thing wrong with the seven of the apparatus in the Toledo, Ohio, fire department. Chief Eulan Tucker mulled over the problem. The trucks had been purchased a few years back when driver visibility was of paramount importance. The seven apparatus were topless! It wasn’t long before the fire fighters discovered that the topless vehicles exposed them to flying debris.

What to do? Tucker decided to close the cabs of the trucks as a protective measure for his men. He had in his department a fire fighter who also doubled as its research expert—Don Rosenthal. Why not let the firemen build their own on-off tops?
