FIRE UNDERWRITERS AWAKE.
FRUITLESS attempt having recently been made by politicians at Bridgeport, Conn., to remove Chief Beardslee from his position as head of the local fire department, the Bridgeport board of fire underwriters drew up, and unanimously adopted the following resolution:
Resolved, that the Bridgeport board of fire underwriters protest against the using of the fire department of the city of Bridgeport for political purposes, as this course is not only dangerous to the interest of every property owner, but alike to all the fire insurance companies doing business here. We further protest against any fire commissioner assuming control at fires so as to interfere with the chief or assistant chiefs of the department in the discharge of their duty.
