Fire Notes From Jackson, Miss.
A correspondent at Jackson, Miss., writes that a new 75-ft. aerial truck has been ordered from the Seagrave Company, of Columbus, Ohio, at a cost of $5,700. It is one of that company’s latest designs, with quick lift, 3-horse hitch, rubber tires and ladder pipe to be used for water tower. It will also carry a life saving net. The truck will be placed in commission at the central station and will answer all alarms in the business district. The company will consist of eight men. On February 12 seme members of the department went to Vicksburg on urgent request to assist in stopping the big fire in that city. After hard work, with a high wind blowing, the principal business buildings were saved and the Jackson contingent received much credit for the part it played in a conflagration that burned up $300,000 worth of property.
