Fire in Clay Pot Plant Near Muncie
Fire occurred in the plant of the Gill Clay Pot Company beyond the limits of Muncie, Ind., on October 24, and did $15,000 damage to buildings and $35,000 damage to contents, consisting of clay pots for factories. It burned six hours, starting at 7.15 P. M. A watchman discovered the fire and an alarm was telephoned to the Muncie department. Chief John E. Casey and twelve men responded. The fire, caused by heat from kiln house, had advanced so rapidly that the roof had fallen in on the kiln house when the department arrived. There was a hydrant pressure of eighty-five pounds and five hydrant streams were thrown, the department using plugs at a glass factory.
