FIRE CHIEFS OF CONNECTICUT MEET.

春季会议的消防主管的俱乐部有限公司nnecticut was held on Thursday, May 18, in the parlors of the New Haven (Annex) fire department. Former Chief Hendrick, president of the club, presided. A considerable amount of routine business was transacted, and six new members were admitted. It was also decided to hold the annual meeting for the election of officers for the ensuing year at Meriden, on Wednesday, June 14, at 5 o’clock p. m., or immediately after the close of the first session of the State Firemen’s association, which meets in that city on June 14 and 15. The members of the club were the special guests of Chief Engineer R. II. Meachen, of the Annex department, who told them that he would serve a light lunch after the business meeting. When the members entered the dining hall, however, they found that the Ladies’ Auxiliary Nd. 1, of the Annex department, had spread for them a table down the entire length of the hall, not a light lurch, but a royal banquet, such as is seldom seen upon such occasions. The post of honor at the table was given to President A. C. Hendrick, of New Haven, and Secretary John S. Jones, of Westport, on their left being Chief Meachen, while ommsite them was Assistant Chief Cooper, of the Annex department, who very creditably filled the position of toastmaster. On his left sat the treasurer of the b. S. C. Snagg. of Waterburv. The visitors numbered about twenty-five, and all were r'>tie-' upon for speeches, none of which were closed without giving loud praise to the ladies, who had so bountifully entertained their guests.
