FIRE AND WATER wishes all its many friends and patrons a happy New Year, with the added hope that 1897 may bring them increased prosperity not only in their business affairs, but also in their homes. As to the future of this journal, its conductors can safely promise that there shall be no going back in their determination to keep up its present high reputation, and to raise that reputation to a still higher plane of excellence.
