FILTRATION
The addition of a filtration system to the water works of Ottawa, Kan., has been recommended, and reports state a commission of four physicians, appointed from the membership of the Franklin County Medical Society, will investigate and report.
Superintendent Calkins, of the department at Alpena, Mich., plans a regular program for the frequent testing of the city’s supply in the municipal laboratory. In the past, the city water has been tested regularly by the State Board of Health, at Lansing, but the sending of samples and reports has taken much time. The amount of chlorine now being used has been ordered by the State Board of Health. The local tests may show that the amount of chlorine ordered by the State. Board is not too much, and that it will be necessary to continue it. It is believed that much satisfaction will result from the more frequent testing of the water.
