Ex-Chief G. L. Ross Dies
George L. Ross, retired Deputy Chief of the New York Fire Department, passed away February 1 at St. Clare’s Hospital in New York City.
Chief Ross was one of the most colorful figures in the New York Fire Department. He was a direct descendant of Betsy Ross, of Revolutionary fame, he was born in Dutchess County, N. Y., and came to New York City as a boy.
