The tramp who is most familiar to us, remarks Practical Electricity, is the human being who wanders from door to door, begging for his subsistence, oftentimes committing every depredation for the purpose of finding a permanent home, at least during the inclement season of the year ; but the tramp with which the electric light company has to deal is a far more dangerous character. It is known as the tramp wire.
This represents a wire whose birth and maintenance have entirely passed from the mind of the original owner, whose right of way would even be denied by the party who placed it in its present position, on account of some denied right or litigation that might be pending, caused by taking such a liberty without having the proper authority or consent of the parties owning the structure and poles to which it is attached.
