E. St. Louis Intake Plant Approved

The water intake plant of East St. Louis, Mo., which will be located on the banks of the Mississippi River ten miles north of the city was given official approval.

Notification of the sanction of the war department was received by C. M. Horner, vice president and general manager of the East St. Louis and Interurban Water Company. The plant will be built on Chouteau Island just off the Tri-Cities and opposite the mouth of the Missouri river. Work on the station on the island will begin next month. The plant will pump water from below the surface of the Mississippi river at a point where the water is declared by chemists to be nearly 100 per cent pure.
