Dublin, Tex., Has Grocery Fire

A night watchman discovered a fire in the center of the first floor of the building occupied by the Meadow Wholesale Grocery Company at 10:30 P. M. on July 5, according to an account furnished by Chief W. P. Hallmark of Dublin, Texas. The watchman immediately gave the alarm and when the department arrived the two-story building, which occupied a space of 50 x 100 feet and constructed of brick and stone, was found to be entirely involved. The fifteen members of the department had one motor combination car and used two 6-inch double hydrants, spaced 300 feet apart, with a pressure of 100 pounds. Three hydrant streams were thrown, with nozzles of one-inch from an eightinch main, 1,000 feet of hose being laid and the water system being direct pumping. The cause of the fire was unknown. The building was valued at $8,000, and the loss on it was $7,000, while the contents, consisting of wholesale groceries and valued at $85,000, were damaged to the extent of $77,000.
