District of Columbia Losses for July

During the months of July, 1922, 150 alarms of fire were received in the District of Columbia, according to L. V. Seib, fire marshal, an increase of three as compared with the number received during the preceding month. Seventy-nine were box alarms and 71 were local alarms or telephone calls. The total losses by fire for the month were $111,791, against $42,391 in July, 1921. The total estimated loss shows an increase of $82,936 as compared with the loss during the preceding month. As compared with same month of last year it shows an increase of $69,400.

Inspections by inspectors of the fire marshal’s office during the month just ended amounted to 4,060. These inspections do not include investigations of alarms of fire. Inspections by uniformed force during July, 1922, numbered 8,512. Out of the above inspections 127 were referred to the fire marshal's office.
