DELIVERY OF FIRE APPARATUS.
C. N. Perkins & Co., of Lawrence, Mass., reports an active trade in fire apparatus, as will be seen by the following: It recently delivered a city truck to Augusta, Me.; also a hose wagon to the same place, and a hose wagon to Orange, Mass. One village truck was sent to Middlebury, Vt., another to State College, Pa. A first-size city hose wagon was furnished to Bangor, Me., and a first-size city hose wagon, rubber-tired, to Haverhill, Mass., in addition to a first-size city hose wagon to Everett, Mass. This week the company shipped two second-hand Hunneman engines, with reels, hose, and all equipments, to Belanger’s, Bluefields, Nicaragua, and this month it will ship one double fifty-gallon chemical engine to Swampscott, Mass. By engineers who have inspected it, this machine is said to be one of the best pieces of fire apparatus in New England. A double thirty-five-gallon chemical engine and hose wagon combined goes to Binghamton, N. Y.; a thirty-gallon chemical engine and hose wagon combined, making a complete combination, to Amsterdam, N. Y.; and a second-size hook and ladder truck of a trussed pattern to Orange, Mass. At the present time the company is doing a large business in the Carey combination pipe and nozzle.
