CONVENTION OF NEW YORK STATE FIRE CHIEFS

CONVENTION OF NEW YORK STATE FIRE CHIEFS

The tenth annual convention of the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs was held at Schenectady June 23d and 24th. The first session was called to order by President John Mack, Chief of the Glens Falls Fire Department, at 1:30 o’clock. The business meetings were held at the New County Building next door to the Fire Department Headquarters. Opening prayer was made by the Department Chaplain, the Rev. H. Graves, after which Secretary Yates called the roll. The Honorable J. T. Schoolcraft. Mayor of Schenectady delivered the address of welcome. He stated that the officials of Schenectady were already acquainted with the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs through the activity of Chief Yates who has been secretary of that association for some time. He highly praised the work of Chief Yates and said that he had the lull backing of the present administration, or as he expressed it, Chief Yates “is the whole push in Schenectady.”

President Mack: We have with us Commissioner of Public Safety W. W. Wemple whom, I am sure, we shall all be pleased to hear. Commissioner Wemple has shown the greatest of interest in everything pertaining to the Schenectady Department, and he in every way co-operates with Chief Yates.
