CHIEF TARO OF EVERETT DIES FOLLOWING FIRE APPARATUS CRASH
One Other Fireman and a Civilian Also Killed When Chief’s Car and Fire Truck Collide While Responding to False Alarm
CHIEF W. A. TARO, of the fire department of Everett, Wash., passed away on the morning of November 10, as the result of a collision which occurred on the evenning of October 29, between the chief's automobile and the fire truck of the department answering a false alarm. It had been hoped that the chief would pull through, although his injuries consisted of a fracture at the base of the skull and the piercing of the right lung by a fractured rib. However, a turn for the worse occurred and it was impossible to save his life.
