Chief Kimball of Salem, Mass., Retires
Chief Howard C. Kimball, of the Salem, Mass., Fire Department, has been retired November 12. In asking to be placed on the retired list the Chief told Mayor George J. Bates that physical incapacity made the step necessary.
Chief Kimball joined the Salem Fire Department in September 1875; was appointed Assistant Foreman of Engine Company No. 1 in 1881; and became Clerk of Engine Company No. 1 in 1884. In 1892 he was promoted to Foreman of Engine Company No. 1.
