Chief Hendrick’s New Quarters.
Chief Engineer Hendrick with Fire Marshal Kennedy and Superintendent Smith of the fire alarm service of New Haven, Conn., have bid a final farewell to the cramped and uncomfortable quarters on the upper floor of the city hall, which have been the home of the fire department officials since 1862, and have been installed in roomy and handsomely fitted up headquarters upon the first floor.
The rooms are three in number, including the principal or main office, a room for the commissioners and a battery room. The two former are elaborately furnished and fitted up in admirable taste and with every regard both to the comfort of the occupants and the convenient transaction of business. The fire alarm telegraph mechanism is placed under glass cases in the commissioners’ room.
