Chief Boylhart Resigns
After just f orty years of faithful and efficient service it in the fire department Chief John L. Boylhart, of Rochester, Minn., has resigned to take effect April 1. Chief Boylhart made known his intention several months ago and city council and prominent citizens made every effort to persuade him to remain. Ill health caused by injuries received at a large fire in 1912 is given as his reason for leaving. Chief Boylhar t joined the department April 1, 1875 In 1884 he was elected first assistant chief and in 1 890 made chief, making just 25 years that he served as chief. Chief Boylhart is a life member of the Minnesota State Firemen’s Ass ociation and during his 25 years as chief he ha: 5 never missed a convention. He is also member of the International Association of Fire E ngineers. After taking a muchneeded rest, Chief Boylhart will probably go to the Panama -Pacific Exposition in California.
