G. J. Fenton, town clerk of Santa Clara, Cal., says that, the earthquake of 1906 shattered the powerhouse and demolished the 180,000-gal. storage-tanks. Twenty-one thousand bonds were issued for their reconstruction, which is now complete.—A. L. Reed, resident manager of the Huntington Beach company, Huntington Beach, Cal., writes that, "practically all the system has been constructed within the last four years. Little pipe-line laid prior to that time and tank and small turret used but discarded now. Pump in connection with electric light plant at night is needed.”—The city water department of San Bernardino, Cal., is replacing worn-out kalamcin mains with cast iron pipe, and is also placing a new 18-in. well at Lvtle Creek reservoir. It will be 1.000 ft. deep. The city is also setting more gates and fire hydrants in the business district.— F. J. Sutherland, engineer of waterworks at Salinas, Cal., says that company is laying one mile agregate of 4-in. cast iron main to improve the service in the residence section, replacing the 3-in., 2-in., and 1 li-in. main, and reaching seme premises not previously served.
