Artesian Well Engines.

Artesian Well Engines.

The illustrations given herewith represent the artesian well pumping engines manufactured by the Hall Steam Pump Company of New York and Pittsburgh.

These engines are peculiarly well adapted for the work for which they are designed. The pumps are of the bucket and plunger type, with removable water cylinders. The piston, valve seats and valve stems are of composition ; valves are vulcanized rubber. The water piston and all valves are easy of access. The machines can be made short connected and set in the bottom of the well, or the engine can be placed at the mouth of the well and the pump at the bottom, the two being connected by suitable columns, one of which serves as the discharge. The advantages of long connected pumps are that all parts requiring lubrication are at the surface. There are no long steam and exhaust pipes in which condensation can take place.
