A Water Works Scheme.
The Prince of Wales has suggested a scheme for supplying each city, town and hamlet in England with abundance of good water. For this purpose, artesian wells are to be sunk, and the various lakes are to be scientifically “ tapped.” Already a. conference of practical men of science has been held in London, at which the subject was formally broached and discussed. Sir Henry C ole, formerly of the Kensington Museum of Art and Industry, who officiated as chairman, expressed the belief that the scheme could be carried out, that it would be successfully executed, and that it could be made “to pay,” even if it cost $500,000,000, or even $1,000,000,000.
