5-Hour Fire Confined to Single Gasoline Tank

Ethyl gasoline was overflowing a 15,000-barrel tank when Engine 3 reached the Citgo terminal in Meridian, Miss., to investigate a report of a gasoline leak. Captain Thomas M. Sanderford said that the fuel was gushing and creating a spray.

The engine company had been dispatched after a telephone call at 9:44 a.m. last October 14 from a resident south of the terminal who reported a gasoline leak. At the time, two pipeline companies were delivering gasoline to the tank.
