THE year 1925 in the New York Fire Department was an epoch in personnel, particularly from the viewpoint of promotions, due mainly to the number of additional chief officers promoted, so as to equalize the platoon schedules by eliminating the non-compensatory yet responsible duties of Acting Chiefs of Divisions and Acting Chiefs of Battalions.
