A Texas fire chief was stabbed multiple times while responding to a call for assistance yesterday morning, according to news reports.
KRBC reported that, with no deputies available, Westbrook Volunteer Fire Department Chief Brandon Hale, 34, responded to a call regarding a person on the road waving a shotgun.
When he arrived on scene, no subject was present, so a deputy went to check a house nearby where the subject could have retreated to, the report said. While the chief was outside talking to a driver, a suspect reportedly ran up to him, stabbed him multiple times, and fled the scene.
Chief Hale was flown to Lubbock. KTXSreported that he was in serious condition. The suspect was later arrested.
