Two Injured Houston Firefighters Released from Hospital

The Houston Fire Department announced that two firefighters injured in last week’s massive Southwest Inn fire are now out of the hospital, reports the Houston Chronicle.

Engineer operator Anthony Livesay and EMT Robert Yarbrough have been released, but Capt. William Dowling is still listed in critical condition, a statement from HFD says.

Dowling remains in a medically induced coma at Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Despite their injuries, Livesay and Yarbrough both attended Wednesday’s public memorial service for the four firefighters who lost their lives in the fire. At the Reliant Stadium service, which drew thousands of mourners, Livesay was bound to a stretcher, and Yarbrough was in a wheelchair.

The statement from HFD did not include more details on the two firefighters’ recovery.
