Two-Alarm Hangar Fire at Hooks Airport (TX)

At least one airplane was inside a private hangar at Hooks Memorial Airport that caught fire on Sunday, reports The Houston Chronicle.

The building, in the 8300 block of Thora, erupted in flames just after 5 p.m. Sunday causing a two-alarm fire. Fire crews found heavy fire and dense smoke billowing from the hangar, which is in northwest Harris County’s Klein community.

As of 10 p.m. Sunday, firefighters and investigators remained on the active scene, said Capt. Dean Hensley, a spokesman for the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office.

“It’s probably going to burn all night,” he said, adding that the losses are likely to begin to be tallied on Monday. “In the morning, we’ll get in and look around.”
