Homicide detectives say two people died in an overnight house fire in north Houston they are calling “suspicious,” reports khou.com
By sunrise, detectives and arson investigators had spent hours going through the home in the 1000 block of Marjorie, collecting evidence and taking photos and video both inside and around the yard.
When firefighter with the Houston Fire Department arrived at the scene just after midnight, they found light smoke coming from the back of the home in the Acres Homes neighborhood
Fire crews went into the home, found one victim, an elderly woman in her 70s, and brought her out. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she later died.

HFD Arson and homicide detectives from the Houston Police Department are both investigating the fire and the deaths.
“We don’t have anybody detained at this time. We know that the fire started inside the house. It’s suspicious, we are working with HFD arson at this point and that’s all about say,” HPD Homicide Det. Kenneth Elliott said.
