More than 200 FDNY firefighters responded to a huge fire early today near Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.
The fire occurred at the top of a six-story apartment building, according to the New YorkDaily News(http://nydn.us/LrH838). It was reported after midnight, and was brought under control nearly four hours later.
Twenty-eight firefighters and two civilians suffered minor injuries.
A portion of the roof collapsed during the fire and temperatures outside were in the low 80s. Crews managed to get all tenants out of the building.
The now-charred building has 178 complaints filed with the New York City Buildings Department, including 11 complaints filed since March. Records show inspectors have found 94 violations, including 39 that are still unresolved, almost all for non-functioning elevators.
