Three Dayton (OH) firefighters will face disciplinary action after failing to find a body at the scene of a fatal fire in September, according to WHIO.
The body of the 53-year-old victim was not located until a day after the fire in a garage, the report indicated.

At the time, crews reportedly noted that it seemed like someone was living in the garage but that there were no injuries. Dayton Fire Chief Jeffrey Payne said Thursday that it appears firefighters made that assessment without performing a thorough search.
“Had we done a search, yes, we would have located the person,” Payne told WHIO reporters.
A subsequent 911 call brought firefighters and police back to the scene the day after the fire. The victim’s body was found under two or three feet of debris.
