Power Line Explosion Hurts Firefighter at Fresno (CA) House Fire

A firefighter was injured Monday evening while battling a two-alarm fire in central Fresno.

Crews responded at 6 p.m. to Kenmore Drive West and East McKinley Avenue after receiving calls of several houses on fire. Firefighters found a fire between two houses that was spreading and threatening four houses in the neighborhood, Fresno Fire Battalion Chief Tony Escobedo said.

在冷杉e fight, a powerline exploded and fell and a firefighter was “potentially shocked by one of the lines,” Escobedo said.

的firefighter was treated on scene then taken to Community Regional Medical Center and was in good condition, Escobedo said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

“We don’t know what caused the fire,” Escobedo said. “We know where it started, just don’t know how it started yet. We’re going to try to determine that.”

Residents evacuated their homes and sprayed water on their houses with garden hoses.

The two houses weren’t badly damaged as the fire was mostly in a back yard.

Firefighters did not believe the residents would be displaced.
