Ohio EMS Crews Face Medical Supply Shortages

A recent report focused on how rising costs are impacting OhioEMScrews’ medical supplies.

The Columbus Dispatch(http://bit.ly/Vzsja1) reported that Jackson Township paramedics use vending machine-like devices to portion out medical supplies as they deal with shortages of common drugs and supplies and the resulting cost increases.

The vending machines alert paramedics when the stock of a drug or piece of equipment is running low or nearing its expiration date, according to the report. The machines reportedly require a thumbprint, code, or key card for a paramedic to select an item, while two paramedics are needed to procure a narcotic.

Some fire departments have event turned to eBay to restock their supplies.
