Occupants of a school bus that caught fire this afternoon evacuated just before the flames spread and totaled the vehicle, reports nj.com.
Randolph Police Detective Lt. Chris Giuliani said the bus, which was owned by Wilkerson Transportation Co., was heading west on Sussex Turnpike shortly after 3 p.m, when it suffered a mechanical issue.
After the driver pulled over and evacuated his passengers, members of Delbarton School’s JV hockey team, the engine compartment caught fire and wound up destroying the bus, the lieutenant said.
No injuries were reported, he said.
