Fire Chief Anthony Stowers reports that the Maynard Fire Department battled a 2-alarm building fire in a 6-unit apartment building early Thursday morning.
The Fire Department responded to Apple Ridge Road at 7:11 a.m. and arrived within two minutes with smoke showing. The fire, which appeared to start in the basement, traveled up to the first and second floor and did some minor damage to the third floor as well.
The first arriving firefighters attacked the basement directly, as the second arriving fire companies went to the first and second floor to check for further fire or hot spots.
