Two firefighters were hospitalized and a team of doctors and nurses brought in to conductdecontaminationafter a fire in a largemillbuilding today in Central Falls, Rhode Island.
One firefighter suffered chest pains and another had difficulty breathing during the fire at General Polymer Inc., according toThe Providence Journal(http://bit.ly/11Zny6z).
The firefighters are believed to have been exposed to toluene, a colorless liquid used in making paints and paint thinners. Other firefighters on scene weredecontaminatedas a precaution.
The fire went to five alarms in the 75,000-square-foot custom paint company when a vat ignited.
