Three people were killed and six hospitalized after a mobile home fire in Penfield, New York, a suburb of Rochester.
Penfield’s fire chief said two men and a nine-year-old child were killed in the fire, which occurred in the East Avenue Manufactured Home Community, according to WHEC (http://bit.ly/1f5nbyV). The first firefighter on the scene and a Monroe County sheriff’s deputy tried to enter the structure and rescue the victims but were repelled by heat and smoke.
The roof of the structure collapsed. There was reportedly no working smoke detector in the home.
