Hudgens Announces Operation Safe Home in Whitfield County

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph T. Hudgens announced the continuation of his smoke alarm program “Operation Safe Home” in Whitfield County.

Commissioner Hudgens presented two dozen smoke alarms to Dalton Fire Chief Bruce Satterfield during the weekly meeting of the Dalton Rotary Club.

Through Operation Safe Home, Commissioner Hudgens’ office provides free smoke alarms to Georgia citizens who otherwise would not be able to purchase them. The smoke alarms are purchased at no cost to taxpayers; funds raised in the private sector are used to purchase them. Through Operation Safe Home, over 165,000 free smoke alarms have been donated to needy citizens.

“Most fire fatalities occur in the home and most occur when people are sleeping,” Hudgens said.”Having a smoke alarm in your home can mean the difference between life and death. In fact, statistics consistently show that having a working smoke alarm in the house doubles your chance of getting out alive.”

一个ny individual or business interested in contributing to Operation Safe Home may call the Commissioner Hudgens’ Public Education Division at 404-657-0831.
