FDNY firefighters battled astubborn five-alarm firein a commercial building on 37th Avenue near 75th Street in the Jackson Heights section of Queens on Monday evening, April 21.
The first alarm went in just before 6:00 p.m. and the fire grew in intensity until the fifth alarm was struck around 9:00 p.m.
Multiple tower ladders poured water on the fire and a heavy cloud of black smoke blanketed a large portion of the surrounding area. Units remained on the scene well into the night and early the next morning.
