Chicago Firefighter Injured and 14 Displaced

A firefighter was injured and at least five adults and nine children were displaced in an early morning fire, reports The Chicago Tribune.

The fire started about 2 a.m. at a 3-story building on the 9000 block of South Houston Avenue in the South Chicago neighborhood, said police.
A preliminary investigation suggested the fire started in the building’s attic and may have been an electrical fire, said police.

A 48-year-old woman was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital where she was treated for smoke inhalation and was released. A firefighter was also injured and taken to MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island where he was reported in good condition, said Fire Media spokesman Chief Joe Roccasalva.

Earlier Friday, nine children and four adults were displaced in another residential fire, according to Fire Media information. There were no injuries reported in that fire.
