太多的Training? Mass-Resignations at IL Fire Department

The chief of the Cerro Gordo (IL) Fire & Rescue and about a dozen volunteer firefighters resigned en masse Monday, reportedly in a dispute overtraining.

Chief Randy West told theHerald-Review(http://bit.ly/13z7axf) that he was told to remove his son, Blake, the department’s deputy chief, because of complaints about too muchtraining. West was reportedly given an ultimatum by thefireprotection district’s board of trustees.

At a special meeting Monday night, West formally turned over his keys, radio, and other materials after being dismissed by the board. His son was also removed from the roster. A number of other volunteers also handed in their resignations at the meeting.

The board members defended the moves without going into specifics. Board President T.J. Shambaugh IV said losses in the department’s roster over the years were part of a “differences in philosophy” that ultimately led to West’s dismissal.
